The SILABE platform's mission is twofold: to conduct research and to provide services in the field of primatology. With more than 40 years of experience with primates and having developed practices that respect animal welfare, the platform's mission is to provide the scientific community with an environment, expertise and services designed to meet the expectations of researchers and the challenges faced in the field of public health. This vision is reflected in its VALUES : Ethics, Professionalism and Adaptability.
In order to further reinforce this policy, the SILABE platform has been committed to a continual improvement process for many years. Its first commitment resulted in the ISO 9001 standard certification in 2011, in recognition of the quality of the platform's organisation and its responsiveness to partners, clients and other interested parties.
In 2014, SILABE also obtained accreditation from AAALAC International (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care), guaranteeing the quality of animal care as well as the platform's commitment and responsibility towards the animals used for teaching and research.
More recently yet, the IBiSA (Infrastructures in Biology, Health and Agronomy) certification label, obtained in 2019, acknowledged the platform's compliance with the life sciences platform charter and rewarded SILABE’s research and innovation.
The SILABE platform is also referenced within the University of Strasbourg's network of research and service platforms (CORTECS).
Inspections by external bodies are carried out annually to ensure compliance with the requirements of these various standards and to support the continual improvement process.
